Kitchen Garden Set-Up
At Neelanjay Pathshala, BNWF introduced a creative and hands-on learning initiative through a Kitchen Garden Activity designed to blend education with environmental awareness. This engaging project began with students drawing various vegetables such as carrots, spinach, tomatoes, and brinjals — while also learning about their nutritional value and how these foods contribute to a healthy diet. This interactive
approach helped deepen their understanding of the connection between food, health, and nature.
Once their artwork came to life on paper, the children transitioned from imagination to action—planting real seeds of the very vegetables they had illustrated. With the help of their teachers and volunteers, fresh grass was also laid down to create a small but vibrant green garden space within the school premises. It quickly became a living classroom where students could observe growth, nurture plants, and experience the rewards of their care and effort.
This initiative was much more than a gardening exercise — it served as a valuable lesson in patience, sustainability, and responsibility. It encouraged the children to appreciate the source of their food, respect nature, and understand the importance of self-reliance and ecological balance. By connecting them to the soil, the program nurtured not just vegetables, but values — growing future-conscious citizens who will carry forward a sense of environmental stewardship and healthy living.
